In 2011, our world was turned upstairs down when a suspected appendicitis diagnosis that turned out to be non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Even though I was receiving great care from Newfoundland Labrador health professionals, there was nowhere to turn to for moral support and understanding.
A few years ago, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada began to have a presence in the blood cancer community in Newfoundland. Today, the LLSC is now the go-to organization for blood cancer patients and families. The research and personal support make a huge difference in our lives. Getting a better understanding of my disease and believing in myself was the most powerful force for me to overcome cancer.
Thank you LLSC and thank you to all of those fantastic healthcare professionals who work every day to provide the best care possible to blood cancer patients.
