Blood cancer research: Opportunities and impact
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is a leading non-profit funder of innovative research for every type of blood cancer, including rare types. We make thoughtful investments in research that will result in scientific breakthroughs to save and improve the lives of Canadians impacted by a blood cancer. As well as our funding, LLSC partners with aligned organizations to accelerate and extend the impact of blood cancer research in Canada.
Blood cancers have long served as a proving ground for new cancer treatments because cancer cells in the blood are more accessible than those in solid tumors. This means blood cancer research often serves to measure the effects of new therapies, and make pivotal biologic discoveries, that can be applied to other types of cancers.
